Dining Table Is Forever
Dining Table Is Not Just Any Piece of Furniture
Nothing unites a family more than a dining table. Dinner at the end of the day, lazy weekend brunches. Dinner parties with friends, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings of the extended family.
It all happens around the dining table.
Your Dining Table – Where Family Meets
I am not a hoarder, far from it. I quite like updating my furniture, and, due to moving home a few times, life gave me plenty of opportunities to furnish our new places from scratch.
I sold many pieces of our furniture – the excuse to buy new ones was too hard to resist. I gave away some of my most precious pieces, including THIS ORIGINAL EDWARDIAN WARDROBE.
The only item my heart wasn’t able to sell was the family dining table. I HAD to keep it. This table brings the best memories of our family life, year after year.
But it looks completely out of sync with my current furniture. Just plain wrong, outdated, not old enough, not new enough. Somewhere in the middle, in-between styles.
Yet, it MUST remain in my life, not delegated to the attic or a corner of a spare room, but right in the middle of our dining area. Family life continues, and so I want us to sit around THIS table.
Solution?
Sanding paper, paint and elbow grease.
I sanded back the polish of the table, gave it a gentle coat of white-wash enamel paint, a few dents, scratches, rough marks and VOILA! My table looks excellent now.
Its aged shabby chic look goes well with contempo dining chairs. Decorate it with a mix of rustic and modern vases and bowls, add a bunch of flowers and your old-new dining table will impress friends and family alike.
