1950’s: PH Artichoke Lamp
History
PH Artichoke pendant lamp was designed by a Danish designer Poul Henningsen in 1958. In his lamp designs, he carefully analyzed how light is reflected so that his lamps would produce evenly-spread light.

Elements and Principles
Shape and Repetition. The “wings” of the lamp are repeated in a carefully designed and measured pattern, to achieve evenly spread light. The repetitive pattern of the wings, resembling an artichoke, also produces a most appealing visual effect.
